Bryon's Prints {Page: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5}
Byron Birdsall, raised in California, the son of a Free Methodist minister, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Seattle Pacific University and a Masters from Stanford.
Birdsall is primarily a landscape watercolorist. His work has been strongly influenced by the Japanese wood block printers, Hokusai and Hiroshige. Characteristic of his work is the use of strong design and flawless graduations of color found in bold washes. His landscape forms are reduced to basic shapes with the integrity of the subject still intact.
Since his first solo exhibition in 1967, Birdsall has had over 50 one-man shows. American Artist Magazine featured his work in April 1981 with one of his paintings on their cover.
The artist has been accepted in many juried shows and has won numerous awards. His paintings are in a great number of prestigious private and corporate collections.
